In these works, the paper is hand-made from abaca fibers, this palm tree (Musa Textilis) rich in cellulose, which is used to restore soils that have been destroyed.
This paper represents nature and weaknesses, the copper engraved with etching and aquatint represents industry and strengths, however, in the work, it is the paper that contains and supports the copper, this represents the balance of opposites and dualities, for example that weaknesses can become strengths.
The signs engraved on the copper are based on the semiotics of the various Amazonian Nations, who live in harmony with nature, however, the environment in which they live is disappearing. Therefore, it is important to make visible the semiology of the Amazonian indigenous peoples to preserve their ancient cultural identity, as well as to help conserve the Amazon rainforest.
Handmade paper symbolizes Eastern culture, copper symbolizes Western society, and signs symbolize South American cultures, creating syncretism between these cultures and societies, with the aim of contributing to shared humanity.

In 2016 the work “Natem” was declared National Heritage of Ecuador, code: BM-17-01-03-013-15-001078, National Institute of Cultural Heritage.
